I have a '95 disco I, but hate the knob adjustment front seats. Is there anyway to retrofit power seats or any good aftermarket alternatives that have a lever adjustment? I need tan leather.

Man , how many times do you need to adjust? I never really got that. You still growing? That is the most worthless thing that can go on a car cause you should only use it once and then no more need for adjustment. Get the seat where you like it and throw the knob out the window if you dont like it man...

Kyle, you are not married, man.... Your theory only holds if you are the only one driving the Disco, I have to adjust my seat every time I get in it after my wife has driven it. No big deal, but I really need to get her her own Disco so she will leave mine alone....

I have to adjust mine every time I get it back from the dealer along with all the mirrors.. The mirrors are what really pisses me off. The seat OK... The guy/girl could be bigger or smaller and have to do it so they can drive.. But, the mirrors... Come on. You don't need to adjust those just to take it from the shop bay to the parking lot. As for the some-what soon to be wife. She doesn't really want to drive the Disco. She has her own mini-SUV/formula one race car (well that's how she drives it). That and the fact that I wouldn't let her adjust the seat either.. Kinda hard to drive when you can't reach the gas or the brakes Besides, she would wreck it doing one of her 70 mile per hour turns and her last minute braking. Ever want to scare the hell out of someone... Put them in the car with my fiance when she is hungry and coming home from work after having a bad day.. I could charge hard core rollercoaster riders for that ride.

Uh, what if I want to lay down? Both the front seats adjust like that. Anyone have any actual suggestions?

How about a Sparco seat?

Hey JC, go to a motel, it'll be cheaper than replacing your seats.
Eric N, seems to me that someone at the dealer is taking your baby for a ride. You're right, why adjust the mirrors if you are just driving from parking lot to shop??????

$50 for half hour at 'pleasure motel'

I saw my Disco pass me by one day on the road when it was in for service. The dealer told me that they were actually required to drive each vehicle a certain amount of miles for each day it was in the shop (forget how many, something like 10 miles). This was meant as a test drive to properly diagnose problems. I had it in for rearview mirror replacement. A past LR mechanic that I ran into who used to work at that dealer said that they all have a field day with clients' Rovers - take them on errands, out to pick up lunch for the crew, some techs take them home, etc.

Sparco's have knob adjustments, as do Recaros. Stop arguing with me about the need for seats. This is my parent's car, they want them. I have a Subaru which has lever reclining seats. :p I've seen my scooby being driven around by the mechanic before too, it's wierd to see your car driving around w/o you.

Well, I know that once they took mine to McDonaldes to get lunch and then went flying through the parking lot and almost killed some old man. He followed them back to the dealer and went off on them for it. I didn't have nice things to say to them about it either.. Though flying I don't think is a good word to use more like lumbering through the parking lot.

One thing I noticed when I used to take my disco to the dealer was that they would leave the a/c and radio on at full blast, I'd love to wring that person's neck...

What the electric seats need are those memory locations. My dad has a MB E320 with those and it's just a push of the button and the seat is his once again.

I know.. With all the other electrics you would think that they would have installed that.. I would love to have a seat and mirror memory button..

I would absolutely KILL for an aftermarket "seat memory" switch. My wife is a foot shorter than I am, and I can't tell you how many times I've jumped into the driver's seat while its in the wrong position. Then I can hardly REACH the controls to fold it back out!
I take it there is no aftermarket solution out there?!...

Hehehe,
You guys crack me up! Pssin' and moaning about the damn seat adjustments like a bunch of old women. Who cares anyway?
I agree with Kyle. He has a special window for throwing shit away. I recommend you throw some seats and some dealer service writers... throw some shit! Get it off your chests, the catharsus will make you all feel a hell of a lot better. You will be better humans for it.

on the subject of seats, my driver's seat leather is starting to crack right under my Arizona-sun-baked sweaty thighs...what to do (besides cover)? Has anyone had any luck with having an upholstery shop re-tread the ass-portion of the seats?
