This is a technical issue. Are we smarter or just more cautious because our rigs cost more?

The answer seems - Yep. This last one the guy is giving it a hand, in case that wasn't enough.

Well, if all else fails, hold your arms out sideways and flap - that'll help.

yeah, you never see a flip rover, be it a series or a 4.6, with it's owner standing on it giving you the thumbs up... too funny to see those dudes..

I don't think the aluminum fender could handle my 230lbs!

to perform such a fercundity in a land rover product is surely conduct not of a proper sporting gentleman.

i am sure that if more land rovers owners got out more, we'd see some incidents.
for the most part, most people i know are very cautious.
there's nothing to prove by trying some hairy stuff and pulling a flipper.

but one thing is for sure, we are surrounded and outnumbered....

Ho,

When Chesty Puller learned that his company of Marines was surrounded in the Frozen Chosin by 8 Chinese divisions, do you know what he said?

"Good, we can shoot in any direction and still hit the enemy!"

JC, whats wrong with YOUR neighborhood? All them' discos either blowed up or crunched up. What happened? One of them anti-SUV organizations hit the local dealer? With bombs then D9 bull dozers?

But there is a HUUUUUGE difference here. Up until JC's post, we got to look at trail incidents. Notice any mud on the pix from JC. Not unless it got burned off in the first couple. As a relative newby to off roading, I can't speak from vast experience, but you can be sure that I was VERY cautious when I went wheeling. Not that the jeepy guys above weren't also, but I saw several "off-brand" vehicles on the trails in Colorado that must have thought they were playing Monster Truck Madness. They didn't seem to be nearly as interested in trying to conquer the obstacles as they were in seeing how close they could come to NOT making it. IMHO, folks like that deserve to be standing on the door of their overturned rig with a big "look how stupid I am" smile on their face. Like it or not, they pose a serious risk to all of us, on or off road.

I think its Darwin in action - survival of the fittest. I guess this goes for the owners as well as the trucks!

Well said. (As usual,) I concur with all the above observations:) As for that first pic that started off this thread, my first thought was "The Titanic" ... a caption like, "(Duh) I'm KING OF THE WORLD!". As most of you know already, (excluding the tires) my new Disco is still stock. (Money tree has been fertilized, still waiting) Call me silly, but the thought of wrecking a vehicle that I'm making big monthly payments on, just isn't very appealing to me. As I've lamented before, my first "mod" expenditures go into protection, recovery points & gear, then just enough to get me where I want to go without doing too much serious damage:) .. Not to say, that I don't like a little adrenaline rush now & then:) You guys have been great at helping me along.

Kim

Bud, are you trying to say that people who drive stupidly on pavement are smart, but those who do so off-road are stupid?
