I am having an electrical problem intermmitently
basicly everything goes haywire then back to normal too long to list, dealer says it may be grounding problem. Can anyone direct me as to what grounds to check and where they are located.
dealer mentioned something about grounds in the bulkhead area. I guess this is the famous lucas curse.

thanx in advance

Nick,

Let me ask you this. When you say haywire is everything quitting on you 1 item at a time including the speedometer the radio etc. Then when you slow down or speed up it effects them?

Nick, I have 'heard' of people cleaning up the contacts in the fuse box under the hood and solving some problems with wacko electronics going on and off. I believe they just removed the fuses, cleaned them and the housing too. Better check the obvious battery terminals. Also, ask the dealer exactly where the ground is that they are refering to--get them to be specific. When and if your problem is fixed, please repost with the remedy.

If I turn on headlights or flash high beams radio cuts out and speedo jumps to 0 for a split second
then goes back and then radio comes back on.Also when I attempt to start it on occassion it is cmpletely dead; I turn key back and forth nothing I turn lights on the dash comes to life still does not crank play with keyless remote couple of times and it will start up and I have radio code and clock has to be reset. That was several days in a row now it has been working fine past couple of days. Can anyone out there solve the mystery? It does sound like a loose connection or ground but where? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks again...

Ah Nick if I were a betting man (and I am) my guess would be an improperly routed engine belt. Here's what happens. The Disco Serpentine belt when placed on by a mechanic not familiar with the Rover will frequently be placed on incorrectly. Your truck could run fine for a while not even a squeek. Then one day out of the blue or in the rain, most likely, the belt starts to slip. This forces the alternator not to recharge and hence all kinds of weird electric problems. So if you only have minimal power and you turn on the high beams it will take the energy from the radio.
This is my guess am I right?

Altenator and belt replaced by dealer 7 months ago have not had a problem up until last week.I was hoping someone would know what grounds are located in the "bulkhead" area, dealer not specific, because they want to charge 89
an hour to tell me nothing is wrong with it,just trying to avoid this situation. If anyone is familiar with this vehicle guidance would be appreciated ,no problem working on it just that it is my first one and I not familiar with location of areas that could have grounding problems.
