Alright -- the dealer told me that D2 headlights won't fit the D1. Guy at Atlantic British told me that 100w bulbs will f-- up the wiring. These things true or false?

If they are false, anybody got a link to a site that sells PIAA 100w bulbs? Thanks.

If you want to run HOT lights you will need a relay set up to take the load off of the stock wiring . Painless wiring makes a ready to go kit just for this app. It runs 71.95 from Summit and the part # is 30815

You can check it out here:
http://www.painlessperformance.com/relays.htm
Its about mid page

The bulbs are all over E-bay and Summit has them as well.

Do a search on old messages for headlights. Several people have put D2 headlights in D1's. Dealers don't experiment with vehicles the way the folks here on this board do.

Thanks,
Mike B.

Matt

Why don't you buy E-code headlights with Xenon bulbs, they out perform any DOT headlight and you don't have to concern yourself about the wiring. I put them on my D1 and never regreted it. If you want more info, just e-mail me.

Why would you want to pay $70 for a couple of relays and some wire? You can p/u a 30amp relay at pep boys for $5, FWIW

I have 3 hellas wired this way (each with its own relay). Total cost under $20.

Marty,

Please tell me more about the Xenon lamps. Are they standard in any car parts store and what wattage did you get.

Thanks

Britdaz
I bought the Narva brand Xenon bulbs from PUMA www.pumaaccess.com

I got the 60/55 watt bulbs, they're the same wattage as the stock bulbs, but burn much brighter. The big advantage is more light without the worry of burning up your wiring harness.

The headlights are European pattern and put the light right in front of the truck instead of diffusing it side to side.

I have 90w/140w ipf lights with a high power wiring loom in a 95 disco and the lights are so bright that you wouldn't believe it until you saw them. Total cost $130
