I have a 95 Disco with an Auto. Sometimes, the metal part of the shifter gets pretty hot. Sometimes it's cool. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. Anyone have this happen and any ideas why? Anything that gets hot makes me a bit nervous.
thoughts?

My '98 has the same issue.
Doesn't seem to be a problem.
others have noted the same thing.
I wouldn't worry

Seems like the hot air gets trapped in the area under the shifter. Some folks (Range Rover) have added a small air duct from the front of the vehicle to that area (transmission/transfer case) to remove some of the hot air while driving. It seems to help.

Cool, I always wondered. As long as it's not a sign it's gonna blow up, I'm happy.
thanks all.

It keeps my pop-tarts warm on the way to work.

if your shifter gets to hot you'd better be careful. your rover could either melt your brain or worse yet, turn your disco into a JE*P!!!
BE CAREFUL, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
