Good morning all,
I'm looking for a Warn XD9500i winch for my ARB bumper. Has anyone found good prices on these anywhere?
I'm on the left coast BTW.
Cheers,
Erik

If you're willing to go superwinch or ramsey, try www.uswinch.com - I haven't found them cheaper in the US.

Ok Ron, this is starting to get a little silly...unless your friend is stealing them from a neighborhood vendor, or he/she is adding a side order of kryptonite when you purchase from he or she....whats the big deal?.....Your source is afraid to make a profit off of selling Warn Winches at wholesale price?....There are plenty of vendors willing to lower their costs on products that don't move(sitting on shelves taking up space). $725.00 isn't such a great bargin to begin with...Pep Boys/4x4connection/or any vendor specializing in off road equipment will part with a 9000lb Warn winch for around $700ish. Now if you are keeping your source hush-hush because its a Jeep vendor, then carry on- we understand...

There is a good reason which I will explain if you email me. (no he is not a jeep vendor, no it is not illegal, no there is nothing wrong with them). 725 DELIVERED is a great deal. Most places want at a minimum 775 plus delivery.

Thanks for the tip on Clemson. Nice site, good price. Knowing I'm thinking about the install on an ARB bumper (with the solenoid riser plate) what about the amazingly low-priced M8000 instead of a XD9000?
FACT: I'll be off-road three to five times a year with one trip every two to someplace like Belize. My current mods. budget is around $1500 - $1750 a year, so I need to be cautious - but not so thrifty in making purchases that will come back and bite me later!
Here's a couple of questions that have most likely been done to death - what the heck!
How many times (as a percentage) would you say that you've winched using a snatchblock? (e.g. 10% of the time, 90% percent of the time?) What is the real (just under 2x?) capacity of the M8000 with a snatchblock?
The line speed on the M8000 is 42'/M at 0lbs. load and 4'/M at 8000lbs. load. Not too much worse than the obviously superior (and doubly-expensive) HS9500i at 67'/M at no load. Thoughts here as to cost / usefulness of the more expensive equipment?
I've read many threads comparing poodles to Husky's and Superwinches - the Warn equipment seems reliable and inexpensive if not a little loud. Final thoughts here in less words than I've just used?
Cheers to all on the Dweb, and thank you for your help!

The cheapo M8000 you only get 80ft of cable and a hawse fairlead. In reality it is not too bad as a recovery winch and is not really inferior to the 9000 or 9500 by much, only real difference being the motor, however compared to a Poodle aka superwinch husky or a Ramsey RE or Warn 8274 the M8000 is inferior (and cheaper).
Cheers

did you figure out my email yet?
By Jon E. Yermo (Jon) on Thursday, August 09, 2001 - 10:07 am: Edit |
I'm an idiot, but I think I've got it now.
P.S. The Warn website says the M8000 is available with Hawse or Roller fairlead / same price.
http://www.warn.com/InternetHome/
The M8000 seems to share every other characteristic with the HS and XD line, braking, gears etc. Am I wrong here?
By Ron on Thursday, August 09, 2001 - 10:22 am: Edit |
Not at the same price. about 75 difference more with the M8000 as you only get 80ft of cable rather than 100
The M8000 has a different motor than the XD9000/HS9500

Ron,
Straight from clemson 4 wheel:
"The M8000 with the roller is $639.95 and without the roller is $559.95. If you have the bumper with all it's hardware then the winch will come with everything else you need to mount it.
visit www.clemson4wheel.com today"

The D-90 Source(www.d-90.com) has some sort of special on a Warn X8000i from Durango4x4.com. The original price is $723.95, if you mention the D-90 source the price is $699.

Ron when you order the M-8000 with the roller fairlead it also gives you 100 ft of cable as opposed to the hawse with 80 ft. John I ordered mine through 4x4 parts wholesalers for 635.95 with shipping from Cal - IN (M-8000 Roller fairlead) but I did call and hagle with them as their web page listed it for 724.00
