Hello, all.

Well, I had the appraiser look at my 96 Disco Friday and their decision was that they would not cover anything tword the corrosion. The vehicle still is under warranty period. Unfortunately, the previous owner had not taken the vehicle in for ANY service during the time she had it under lease...not even the two minor recall items! Long story short, the appraiser said "sorry...no record of corrosion inspection so we're not covering anything."

I know others have faced this battle. Some have won, some have lost. What I would like is any advice from the winners. ;-) You may reply privately off list. If anyone can give me some details of what they said, what letters they wrote, what their obstacles were, etc. I may not win the battle, but I want to at least show up to fight. FWIW, In the process I don't want to torque off my local dealer's service manager if possible. He's been good working with me on other issues and got me set up w/ the appraiser pretty quick.

BTW, this is a good lesson...I'm kicking myself I didn't drive the hour or so to a LR dealership to have this checked BEFORE I bought it, but I had the silly idea people would actually want to maintain their vehicle...

Push them harder.

I had a 94 Disco with only a few months left on the warranty, and it had been to different dealers and there was no record of a corrosion inspection.

They ended up replacing all door skins, the rear door and did some work on the roof.

It was this level of dedication that pushed me to purchased a second rover.

Keep pushing them, complain....and mention that you are the second owner and should not have to pay a price because the original owner failed to get it inspected. Who knows, the previous owner may have asked to have it inspected. Then again is a leased vehicle still the responsibility of the Dealership and less of the owner?

Just keep pushing.....They should stand behind the vehicle.

Oh, I have had some work done on my second Discovery under this warranty, too.
