Someone had posted what hardware they used to make a tie down in the back cargo area. So, what hardware was it?
Yes, this has been posted before. I even did a search and could not find it.

What size are the rear holes in the cargo floor? I remember something like 7/16 fine thread??
Thanks
John

John,
I got mine from
http://www.snappinturtle.com/
There is a pic of my install in the photo gallery.
I pulled the carpet and matting and drilled the holes for them.
I had zero luck finding anything in my local hardware stores.

The hold down bolts are 7/16" fine thread.

Actually, I have an old post archived on my computer that puts the bolts at 11mm. That makes more sense to me since most bolts on a Disco are metric.
Thanks,
Mike B.

where are the factory tie down holes at? Do they have black screw looking plastic caps over them?
By Mike B. on Monday, August 06, 2001 - 03:52 pm: Edit |
Yes. Just unscrew the black plastic caps and put in your bolts. However, some 96 and older Discos may not have the holes pre-drilled. I've seen one with no holes pre-drilled. It was a silver 96 with cloth seats and no sun roofs.
Thanks,
Mike B.

Mike B, I believe you are correct: 11mm x 1.25 but the 7/16 x 13 (fine thread) is the readily available substitute. A lot of the odd metric sizes are impossiblle to find in U.S.--go ahead and try
Jason, pop those black caps up and you will have your answer. There should be at least 6 tie down points, may more in the cargo/rear passenger area.

If you have problems in your area, try these guys. The carry a lot of metric grade 8 stuff. Also have a fair supply of Stainless Steel and Cadium plated stuff at reasonable prices.

I have no affiliation with them other than their bolts are holding together my Disco right now!
Thanks,

I guess you could force an 11mm bolt into a 7/16" threaded hole, but then again if you try hard enough, you can force anything into anything
Just go down to the ace and get the SAE bolts and save yourself the headache of looking for oddball fasteners. You will NEED to do it eventually, so why do it when you don't HAVE to.

SAE?
Do you consider a 7/16x13 fine threaded?
I would think something like 7/16x20 would be a fine thread.
11mmx1.25 is about as hard to find as a Rover owner without an oilpatch on his driveway.
If anyone has a part number and the vendor they got them from, please post it.
thanks

Sorry my mistake. I meant the 7/16 x 20 (not 13). And yes the 11mm x 1.25 is not a difficult bolt to find but try finding a fastner (tie down) in that size. John, BTW no oil patches under the Rover
Now if anyone can find an off the shelf grade 8 coupler nut in 12mm x 1.25, then I will provide them with 1 dozen donuts.
