How are you guys fitting 265 series tires on the tire carrier??? Mine with the stock 235 looks like there isn't much room. Looks like one person at least is also looking at the 255/70 rather than going just wider than the 245/75 (seems to be most popular option) anyone ever run 265/70's (not quite as extreme as the 265/75)??? will this fit under a truck with a new set of 2" Rovertym's??? How about with a set of 2" Rovertym's and the wheel spacers to get my turning radius back??? Just a thought.

I've got a d2 and the trick to getting the beefy 265/75 on the carrier is to first deflate the spare entirely. Then mount it on the carrier. Then gradually add 10 psi or so and let it sit for a week or two. Then more air. This will deform the d2's wimpy bumper to 'accept' its new master. If you have a d1 with the metal bumper then i guess you could always just carry it deflated and use an air compressor on the fateful day that you need it.

I have 265/75 on my disco2. All i did was invert the spare tire mount, and it has about a finger gap between the tread and the bumper.

can you invert mount on D1?

If it bolts into the rear door as the Disco2 does, im sure you could. I had to remove my rear paneling in the rear door to access all the bolts. One I removed all the paneling I was then able to have my friend flip the mount, and we bolted it back up. Its not as hard as anyone thinks.

Why invert mount on a dI? My 265/75 clears the bumper fine.

on the disco 1, you can fit 235/85-16 or 265/75-16 without problems.
if you have a disco2, invert the tire carrier as azjeeperecovery suggested.

here are some detailed info on that invertion:

Thanks azjeeprecovery, Tom, & Ho. I love the azjeeprecovery name - I live in Scottsdale - we'll have to get together with Hadaz and hit some trails sometime.

Hey Tom, what did you do to fit your 265/75's on your DI, as far as suspension & trimming are concerned? I'm installing OME HD front and MD rear springs & shocks. I hope I don't have to trim too much (or not at all?)

Check out my gallery on this site...more than what is needed for 275's, though.

Check out all the galleries and personal web sites in the resources section to see what folks have done.

You will have to trim the rear fender if you go off road at all, just can't avoid it with 265's almost no matter what.
