I have a 2000 Disco II that has giuven me few reasons to complain. However, recently, both the front and rear sun roofs (or is the rear a moon roof...?) began to rattle when open. Beginning a couple of months ago, noticed that when the temperature is very high (95+ F) the panels stick to the gasket and won't open. I may have pushed on the front one a little while pressing the open switch--OK, I did it a few times, but only once in anger--and thought my manual assistance might have caused the rattling. Yet the back one has started and, tall as I am, I can't reach it from my customary captain's seat. Is this common? Is there a fix? I detest rattles.

I test drove a '96 w/ dual roofs before purchasing a '96 w/out any roofs. It had the same thing. It rattled slightly when open. I have a feeling its one of those roverisms that you'll have to live with. I don't speak from experience though since I don't have any sunroofs. If under warranty take it in and have the dealer handle it.

I am currently on my second set of sunroof rail. Needless to say this has not resovled the issue. I have just learned that the sunroofs are better left closed unless parked, and you want to vent the truck.

If the glass is sticking to the gasket, try a very thin film of vaseline. Another suggestion is to fully open and close them a couple of times a week. Mine have never rattled, but have squeeked from time to time. I always ask my dealer to lube them each time I make a visit.

I am going in for a 30K checkup in a few weeks; I'll ask that they be replaced. Thanks for the suggestions.

Spray some silicone spray on the rubber gaskets and dust them with a little talc. This will prevent them from sticking and will last a while. As for the rattles... There seems to be no permanent fix. Only a small minority have non-rattling sunroffs, very very small.
