I hope this is an appropriate post; if not, please forgive.

I need a replacement key fob (remote keyless) for my 2000 Disco II; what's the best way to get one? My dealer is three hours away. The closest dealer is another two and a half hours away.

Thanks.

You are still under warranty, aren't you? Your dealer should replace it for free if it's broken, then?
Otherwise, you could try Rovers North (Link under Resources)

out of curiosity here...why do you need a new key fob? did it break into 2 pieces, if so, they are designed to do that.

The key portion (metal) came apart from the plastic portion when I had trouble removing it from the transmission. Now, it won't stay in together. I tried gluing it, but that seemed to make the problem worse...I was afraid to use superglue because I am not sure how it comes apart to replace the battery, and the glue I used seems to act more as a lubricant than an adhesive.

When the key comes apart in the lock (on the steering wheel shaft) I cannot get enough leverage on it to get it out or start the car. I keep a Leatherman handy for such occasions.

Hmm. that makes no sense. Actually, it came apart when I tried to get it out of the steering column. If they key was stuck in the transmission I would deserve whatever happened!

dealer should replace it for you under warranty, but that doesn't shorten your 3 hour trip any....what about mailing them the broken key and having them mail you replacement?

What do copies of TSBs cost? How can you get 'em? Will a dealership give them to you?
