Two or three times per week when I park my 2000 Disco II I hear a ghostly whistling "WOOOOooooo" sound emananting from the engine compartment in front of the dash. It can be heard inside as well. I have no idea what it is, but it can't be good. There is no help in the reference manual that came with my vehicle.
It happens after short and long drives. It generally happens when it is hot ouside. It happens whether or not I have used the cruise control. It persists for 1 - 3 minutes.
Is this just one of those "car personality" things I should grow to love or is it a harbinger of bad things to come? Is there a fix?

Its probably your electric fans running. this is normal. They are in front of the rad right behind the grill. The next time it happens look there.
