Would this be a viable option? Has this been done? I plan on keeping my disco forever so scratching them up is no big deal, but wouldn't powdercoating them black not only look good but provide some protection?

Kevin K had this done to his alloy wheels a couple months ago. It looks good and has held up well.

Herky,
Do you mean your alloys? You could also sell your alloys and then get a powdercoated set of steel ones from http://gulfcoastrovers.com for about the same price. Also, you gain a 1 inch wider track.

My local LR dealer wanted $150 per wheel for powder coating. I'd go with some AR steel wheels from Gulf Coast Rovers, they're $61 per wheel .
