My 96se7 (D1) has gold, painted pin stripes down both sides--after 6 years some of the paint has worn off. As you can imagine, this half-on/half-off look sucks. How can I remove the rest of the paint? I've searched the web, but only found how to remove pin stripe tape (no kidding, you just peel it off!!!). Thanks in advance for help on this really stupid question...Annonymous (no id because I fear Simon and Blue Gil)

Drive really close to some trees and big rocks. If you use the proper technique with the right spring rate and shock combination you can skim off just the stripes.

If they are fading away that badly a good power buffing might do it.

Our '95 had those, and they looked awful. Whoever took the time to hand paint them needed a clear cocktail, as they're hands shook so bad the "lines" looked more like squiqqles. We took ours to a body shop, and for $100, they took them off with no damage to the underneath.

Good Luck.

have no fear, buff em out! Just don't buff off the good paint underneath or burn the surface. May first want to try a simple paint cleaning compound (like a light rubbing compound). That's what I use to remove the Arizona pinstripes.

Simon & I are just screwin around...I hurt his feelings a while back, but, with a little more therapy, we'll all have warm fuzzies again. :)
