Has anyone got any mpg data for their disco when driving at say 65, 75 or 85?

What speed do you drive when going on a mega trip? Does gas get cheaper going west?

Thanks for any info

Dean

I drove my disco from Houston to Sacramento doing 75-80 most of the way. The a/c on the whole trip and pulled 15-17 MPG. Gas was cheapest in San Antonio @ $1.19 for 91

850 miles with the cruise control at 80 mph - except for the 2 pitstops - average was 13 mpg. If I go 55 mph, 13 mpg average ... if I go 65 mph, 13 mpg average ...

Albuquerque to Maryland. Avg speed was about 70 - 75, avg mpg was about 16. I've noticed that mileage in those things is best on the highway at about 65-80 mph.

With cruise control set at a conservative 70 mph on interstate highways, I am able to get 17 mpg on long steady trips with roof rack in place. On non-interstate routes, with cruise control set between 55 and 65, I get 18-19 mpg. Emphasis on conservative, steady driving.

I did 350 miles from VA to NC, on almost a full tank with A/C on, cruising anywhere from 75-85 mph. I filled up before I left, and 350 miles later, the low fuel light came on.

Assuming there's about 2 gallons left when the light comes on, I'm guessing I did about 16-17 mpg.

I have Mobil 1 synthetic oil and a K&N air filter. I'm guessing that these helped.

i used to worry about speed and mpg - now i just go as fast a conditions and safety allow and just bear with it. on a trip to flagstaff a few weeks ago - was getting 14 80 with a/c on. got 12ish up to flag from phoenix due to long uphill grade. the trip from flag to kingman was nearly 19 at 85 as it was some downhill. then kingman to barstow was 15ish and then back to los angeles it was 14ish again.
