Saw oxygen sensors on sale at British Pacific website for $99 each. Thinking of buying them just to have if needed someday soon. my 1996 Discovery has 67,000 miles and may need them soon. Have 2 questions: 1) ad says they are for 3.5, 3.9 and 4.2 V8's; will these same sensors also work on 4.0 V8? 2) Do I need 1 or 2?

Don't know about the engine sizes, but Nathan Crabtree sells for the low, low everyday price of $89 (blue light special). I believe you'd need 2.

You need 4 for a 96 disco and they are different from the earlier ones. Get them from Nathan at the email address above.

I just received mine...I ordered them yesterday, and they arrived today(next day air of course)....Tim over at BP was a cool guy to speak with....I was so excited when I read the post over on the Rovers North BBS...the ironic thing was that I was setting up an appointment to have my current sensors replaced(private mechanic of course, only because he had 02 sensors in stock, he replaces them all the time, if you are in the area check these guys out....A-1 service, oops not trying to advertise, sorry about that.... www.cityimports.com ...any way, talk about money well spent 200.00 delivered for two 02 sensors, yeah I could've ordered them from Nathan over @boatbuggy, but I didn't feel like splicing wires.. Now that I have them, I can celebrate my purchase by doing the D.I.Y thing. I am getting real tired of disconnecting that negative battery post to clear that check engine light.....
Now the question for all of you is "how do I put these things in".... I know the first thing to do is to crawl up under the truck......

What tools will I need....to get started, and I aint afraid to get my hands dirty.....

please detail the instructions for a 1994 Range Rover Classic, or I guess I could look inside that $100.00 workshop manual......Its a Land Rover, Range Rover....just joking....its a Classic RANGE ROVER and it makes me look like I've got millions in the bank---but I don't, and I drive it like I don't.....

Ron,

I'm at work and don't have my workshop manual here. Why would I need 4? I thought there was only 1 or 2. Where are they all located?

but I didn't feel like splicing wires.

Nathans are gennies so no splicing.

Bill, ONe is in front of the cat one behind. x2 exhaust pipes and you hvae all four.

Hard to miss, you can see the fronts by opening the hood the backs you have to crawl under to see.

In a '96 there's a set before the cat. Look down in engine bay and you can see them. Then there's two after cats under the truck. So there's 4 all together. Might as well change them all.

Ron, I didn't know Nathans were Genuine.....are they shipped in Lucas boxes or Land Rover pretty million dollar boxes......Oh well, I got them now, but whenever Nathan reappears with some more specials I'll check him out....I really wanted to save big time, so thats the reason I waited and waited, If I wasn't at work today, and it wasn't 100 degrees outside right now, I would go out and put them in now....isn't it funny what "stuff" for your Land Rover makes you do....I remember when my roof rack arrived.. I was up until 3 in the morning getting it together, and putting it on my roof......same with my ARB bull bar, I was back in forth from the garage to outside in the pouring rain putting that thing on.....I am only putting off installing my winch because I want to put some heavy duty's on, and take the MD's off.....Why don't we all have our on Land Rover shops? I guess the fun is only with "ours"...

Thanks for all the quick responses. I'd like to check with Nathan Crabtree to see what he has, but I can't find a full email address or website for him. Anyone have this handy? Thanks again.

boatbuggy@aol.com is Nathan's email

I think they are actual genuine ones but i am not absolutely sure as I only got one (don't ask the OBD II is the bane of my existance). At the very least they are OEM (NGK not lucas). It is all very complex with the 96+ however I can say Nathan's are 100% correct so if you get them from him no worries.

Cheers
Ron
