Living in West LA/Santa Monica, CA. About 2 miles due East of the Santa Monica Municiple Airport
LA is a mystical land filled with so many Disco's I's, Disco II's, Defenders, Classics, and new style RR's (what are the new ones called anyway?) that they all get lost in the shuffle. On the plus side, we did have a RR Classic car chase that was pretty interesting to watch. Drove over 15 miles on with two flat tires and the drivers side front ground down the SWH.
Aside from two Trek trucks, Gerry Barragan's modified Classic from SCLR, and the trucks from Rover Accessories, I haven't seen any other modified Rovers besides our own. I know there are a few out there. I've just never seen them.
ONCE, ONCE I say, I got someone to wave back. It was a Defender driver waving when I drove by in my IIA. When you wave out here, most drivers get nervous. I get more waves from J**p, IH Scout, and old Bronco drivers then Rover drivers. :-(

Jeff - LA: i just happened to turn on the "teevee" (LOL, Bluegill) to see if I could catch a quick weather forecast, and low & behold, I saw that chase with the RR from the very beginning. Of course, (cursing myself) I couldn't help but watch the whole thing - Unbelievable! And, sure enough, (according to local news) LR sales in LA area went way up that following week ... (Gawd!)
You ought to come down to OC - I've seen 3 of the most awesome (beautifully mod') Defenders around here in my community .. 2 '90's, and (the best) a 110. And (how's this for irony) I saw each one of them in the local shopping center lots! With the 110, I had an urge to follow the guy - I just stood there gaping at it - it was perfect ... just kept thinking, WHO was that?? (and does he REALLY know what he is driving and how to use it - there was a passenger in front seat with him) He probably thought I was a nut. he he he ...

Age--haven't been yet. I bought the truck for my wife about a year ago. She hated the five speed. I love it! Unfortunately, I just finished my third year of school, my last final, and the bar; simply had no time. If you have a place in mind, I am all for a trip. And, yes I was also starting to wonder if I was the only Disco driver in San Antonio that knew about teh wonders of Discoweb. Guess its time to order some stickers...DougC

Most Disco owners in the UK are so far up their own ass they'd have trouble using a computer! (I did say most, not all).
They're normally driven by clueless business men, paranoid mothers, or off-road wannabe's. The term "off road" to these people means climbing the kerb while turning around.
There are a couple in my area though, mostly D90's not Disco's though.
Planning to go along to the LR show in September, so I should meet a few people there.
Horness.

No I don't know Hardy. It's bad enough we get to read about him in the sucky local paper. That and the US Justice Dept. saying that York is the most unstable place in the country for race problems.
I will take you up on the trails in your area someday. But you can keep the football it would be worth going to see all the little ladies they would look hot next too our Discoweb stickers.

Tate,
No RTE sliders this weekend. But, I still can't go wheeling. I'm going to be getting the "Honey Do List" from hell this weekend since I'm going to Canada for the first week in Sept. She wants me to get some stuff done around the house before I go. Damn women I wouldn't be able to go till weekend of Sept 15-16 or after that. Should we put something in the trails/events section for a trail ride that weekend or end of Sept begining of Oct. Something like "Calling all D.C. area rovers to a GW trip" maybe camp over night if the weather is nice.

And I'm holding down the fort in Southern Maryland, though I know there are others on DiscoWeb who are from "across the river", as we say 'round these here parts (that means the other part of So. MD, literally across a sizable river). I saw a snow picture in the DiscoWeb photo gallery with a route sign on it that I recognised. Think I know the snow storm, too, in which I was hole up, only having lousy-in-the-snow vehicles at my disposal. I vowed this year I'd fear nothing, and I'm hoping my new Disco won't let me down.

I'd really like to modify, but don't forsee having the funds anytime in the near future. In fact, I have posted my truck for sale here and elsewhere due to the expense involved.
If you know of anybody interested in what has been a VERY reliable '95 Disco, keep mine in mind. I drove it from 50K to 74K, with zero problems. Barely even leaks (occasional oil drop on the driveway, but that's it)

tomorover. just seeing this message today. opps. as for tickets......this first game is going to be a nasty one. miami ranked #2.....ouch. going to be some serious rioting i think and only one mounted statey. not looking good. either way.....if PSU gets blown out or we somehow win there is going to be some major distruction. i am actually leaving in 10 minutes to start my pre-coma. then i will be in a full coma by tomorrow sometime just before the game.
i do have the ability to get tixs. just let me know what game any of you may want to come over for and i will see what i can do.
i am always up for some trails anytime. i am heading to the MARS in Oct. you and MTB should head down for it. i am meeting up with a guy with a series IIA on the way. went to rover fest with him. cool dude.
email me directly if you ever feel like coming this way. and of course i do not have mention once again about the new hooters in town. sorry to keep bringing this up ya all, but to an over the hill 30 year old among a sea of college age guys/girls this is my only glimpse at my old lifestyle.
