I installed trailer wiring per instructions in the tech section with the $17.00 U-Haul part no. listed. Did this 1 year ago and have had fuse #8 blow a few times in the last several months. Now....it's doing it all the time whether I am trailoring or not....plus tha U-Haul unit seems hot to the touch to me. Anyone else had a problem or have I just got a bad U-Haul unit???

greetings from carlsbad, only use "hoppy" brand trailer plug with separte power isolator, ie it gets power from battery direct, donot tap into lr wiring for power worst case you will blow black box or airbags (sensitive)will stop working not worth it. happy motoring

Check the wiring for wear and tear. I have not had the problem on my Disco, but my car had the same thing happening to it, where the fuse kept blowing whenever I used the indicators.
Traced the wires back to the loom, and found it had become split, and exposed to the elements.
Just a thought.

You probably have a short somewhere. In my case, the short started on the trailer where insulation was rubbed from a wire. That can cause enough heat to melt wiring in the vehicle, too, and then you have another short.
