When I unlock my 1997 Disco with the remote, my driver's side back door lock will lift up like normal, but not quite enough to completely unlock the door. When that pasenger tries to open the door it will open until the last catch and then lock. I then have to reach back and pull just a hair more to get the correct results. My front driver door does it only periodically. If I use the key then the front is fine, so I am not locked out, but the back never works.

Any one else have this problem?? Any quick "garage" fixes or is there perhaps a factory recal!!??

Interesting!!
Just spent the whole afternoon trying to fix mine. Similar problem, but only on driver's door. Unlocking with the remote gives me a single chance to open the door. (Cant close again and re-open.) To get out of the car I need to pull up 1mm on the (open) pin and hang on to it, else the door doesnt open.
So I removed the door panel and tried to figure out all the connection wires. Final ruling was that the darn thing doesnt work due to wear. Mine is a 93 model (but I bought it recently and cant tell how long its been like this). I slightly bent one of the too many wire rods, and now its slightly better - can manage the occasional re-opening without having to lock&unlock with remote. Lousy job, one cant work in the door as the openings are too small to see what the heck youre doing.

regards
Jaco

I have a 96 Disco and when I try to manually lock the doors all four locks go down only to go up again when I close the door. The doors lock just fine if I used the remote. Is this normal?

It's a Feature! Mine does the same thing. Have to use the key or the remote to lock the doors.

Thanks,
Mike B.
