When I lived in Washington I always had my tires siped and it added great traction in all weather conditions. Now I live in Florida and I can't seem to find anyone that does this. Every tire shop that I've been to looks at me like I'm crazy.
With the rain and slick steets down here this would be ideal.
Perrone, if you know of a place that sipes tires please let me know.
If anyone in North Florida(Crestveiw) or Georgia area knows of a place then please pass it on.
I'm going to northwest Florida area on my way to SOLAROS and would like to have it done on they way.

Thanks
Rico

Discount Tire tries to sell siping of tires with every tire purchase. They have a machine that does it easily and it's only a few bucks a tire.

Who else down there is going to SOLAROS? We should ride together.

Siping is the process of cutting small grooved into the tire on the primary contact patch. Its benefits are that it allows the tire to "open" a little and keeps them cooler. It also increases the biting edges in contact with the road which increases wet weather and snow performance. It also reduces tire squirm which increases tire life.

I don't have a gallery per se, but you can see pictures of some of my misadventures at:

Look in past events.

After running with siped BFGs, I'd have say that they worked negatively for me. If you look at the treads on mine, I don't shred them anymore, they come off in chunks. Perhaps on the MTs, but I don't think it's useful on the ATs.
