EVEN WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROL OFF, I STILL GET HOT OR COLD AIR COMING THROUGH VENTS DEPENDING ON THE TEMP SET BEFORE TURNING THE SYSTEM OFF. NY DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. ANY OTHERS... I HAVE A 2000 DISCO II.

Do you have your recirculator *spelling* button pushed in? The one that looks like a recycling symbol? that stops it for me..

Ben

The reason you still get air flowing from the vents when its suppose to be off is from the air being forced in from the outside through the vents as you drive. The faster you go, the more air comes in. By pressing the recirculating button, it shuts it off the intake for those vents.

I guess my question is why is the air coming thru the vents heated or cooled depending on the climate control setting i f the unit is shut off? in any event i suspect the issue will be solved by stopping air flow thru the vents using the recirc button

Because it either flows by the heater core or it doesn't based on temp setting
