I was just wondering if I could get some help and advice? I was driving the other day and noticed that when I was stepped on the gas I could hear a constant spudering/ticking coming from the pasenger side. Could this be a leak or something else. If so how much am I looking at?

simple - a few bucks for a new exhaust manifold gasket maybe, or just tighten the manifold/Y-pipe nuts. Do a search for manifold or exhaust.

You may want to check where the Y-pipe connects too the muffler. I had the same problem and that took care of it. Just tightened them up

may also be the collector gaskets. (where Y pipe connects to gasket as MTB stated) i have had them both replaced as well as my right side manifold. i had a crack in my '94 DI exhaust manifold as well. that seems to be pretty common. i just had it welded and all was good. and like the others above say first check to see if they need tightened. when replacing the manifold gasket on the one side of my truck they were all loose. but the gasket did need changed.

Britt,
Had the same thing during the past week or so - sounded like a manifold gasket leak on the right-hand bank. Didn't want to touch it because of the horror-stories I've heard of studs breaking! Mentioned it to the dealer today when it was in for its 52.5K service. Apparently an exhaust flange was cracked - they replaced *both* cats & the Y-pipe under warrantee @ zero charge.
According to the dealer (LR Metro-West near Boston, MA) anything related to emissions regs has a 7-yr warrantee.

Maybe it's worthwhile to speak to your local dealership?

depending on the year of your truck the emissions warranty is either 5 or 7 years. i believe it is '95 and newer it is 7 years.....the '94's it is like 5 years on the emissions. i know there is a change in time either in the '94's or 95's and it then goes up to 7 years. check with your local dealer for the exact info on this.

My 94 had the same issue....did the gaskets, same problem...finally found a crack where the right hand downpipe connects to the flange...sealed it with exhaust putty...but it really needs to be welded...just didn't want to take it all down for a relatively minor issue.

Gary,
I have the same problem but my dealership said it was not related to emissions so they did not have to warrenty it.

and advice?

What is this about 7 year emissions warranty?! I have an 95 with a bad O2 sensor. Think they would cover that!!
