Is there any way I can wire my factory fog lights so that they stay ON when I hit the brights? Even better, could I get them to turn on when I have just running lights on?

Mine work with the Parking lights on. In order to make any changes as far as the brights are concerned, the dealer will need to use the testbook to make a chnage to the fog light setting. However, most dealers will not do this as in most states it is illegal...

did you get my email from this morning? I'll go into more depth later, but you use an electrical connection clamp (T-clip) to tap into the running light current or the bright light current (wires exiting out back of headlamp unit); when juice is flowing through running light or bright light wires, it'll "switch" on your other auxilliary lights. As I don't have stock fogs on my Disco, I don't know what kind of black magic the factory uses to automatically switch off fogs when you hit the brights, but I imagine it all comes down to wires & relays :). It can be done with a few $ in hardware wiring gadgets, a couple hours, and a few beers. No problemo.

I am thinking I will just get rid of the factory fog lamps and put something else in the same space. Aside from mounting problems, which I will make up as I go along, what kind of wiring options do I have? I am thinking I can splice into the current plug and shrink wrap the splice. As long as the lights don't draw too much it should work. Are there any problems with this plan?

p.s. Anyone know what fuse I need to check for the fog lights? I can't find it in the manual where the other fuses are listed. I am guessing it is the same as the headlights for each side???
