Well, I'm sure this is a well discussed topic, and if there is info on this, please refer me to the site. Here's the situation: My wife rolled my 96 Disco (54,000) after hitting a bad stretch of ice. The Rover has $9000 worth of damage to body only. Only thing wrong under the thing is a bent rear brakeline. I am very impressed with this vehicle's performance thru the rollover.

I'm faced with the situation (depending on insurance money of course) if given the option to total it (what would a reasonable price be?) and get a DII or force the fix on my DI. My offroading is moderate now, this vehicle is primarily a grocery getter and over the road in bad road conditions vehicle.

I appreciate any comments.

Glad to hear Disco handled rollover well, with only body damage. How did the wife handle it? I guess it's a typical-male thing to reassure all of us that the TRUCK is fine! Anyway, your '96 with 54K is worth more than $9K. If you only use it moderately off-road, and you're primarily interested in wrapping your wife in a safe truck to run around town in, you might consider a DII. More comfort & convenience for the wife, with only a little off-road ability sacrifice (wider body, and longer cargo bay = worse departure angle). Still, the DII is an incredibly capable 4X4 for your weekend adventures. One more consideration is the fact that more bells & whistles on DII means that there are more potential electronic issues that are hard for the home-mechanic to rectify...
my two cents,
Blue
