Great weekend trip to Tellico, NC!! I got greedy on trail number 8 Saturday morning and a root (yup, a root) hung on my driver's side (left) side-view mirror and broke it off at the pivot. Frayed ends of the wires were hanging from the mirror as it got trapped between Disco and embankment leaving a trail of scrapes and abrassions all the way down. Tough times.

what I need to know is can anyone describe the steps to replace this unit myself? I see the part in the AB catalog and it looks like it is held to the door with 3 scres or bolts. How do you get to them?

The trip was fun anyway and now my drivers side looks as beat as the passenger side!

Ron

For the mirror you are about to replace, roll down the window, open that door, then at the inside lower front of the window frame remove the small plastic triangle. On the back it has two post (vertical with centerline of the cover) with retainer washers, try to be careful and not drop/lose the retainers while you are removing this cover. You will have to pry this cover off so be careful not to break the post off the back. This will expose the fasteners you need to remove. After the repair, expand the metal retainer and push the retainers into the metal (holes) prior to pushing the cover back on.
