Much to my disappointment, this morning a Semi carrying loose gravel lost a rock and bashed the corner of my windshield, causing a crack, which is spreading quickly. I was contemplating having my windshield replaced with the heated one; do you all have any suggestions/experience with this matter?

Thanks.

The heated ones are expensive but a nice option to have for the winter months.....
I have a heated windshield on my 94Classic Range, and I love in when there's just a little ice on the windshield and I can crank up the 4x4 in the morning, turn on the heated windshield, run back into the house and finish getting dressed for work...everyone else in the neighborhood is outside with their ice-scrappers,...looking over at me saying to themselves----That Rich guy thinks he's sooooo special in his $100,000.00 Range Rover.....J,
but I too worry that one day I'll be the one with the cracked windshield and you know what I'll be replacing it with? A regular cheappy windshield....just think, even when I'm on the trails, I worry that a low slung branch will want to test the strength of my heated windshield....., well-I guess that's why we make our own limbrisers...

If you got the tag number and company of the semi that dropped the rock, call them and they'll usually settle in minutes (from my past experience). Normally they'll send you right the the glass shop that their insurance company uses and you don't pay a dime.

This doesn't help much for the heated windshield switch I know, but it may say you some $$.

Also, don't know whether you have a D1 or D2, but as far as the D1 conversion - this has been discussed at length before. So far I think mine is the only D1 that came with the heated windscreen connections already installed (but no heated glass :( )

The windshield on my wife's Infiniti was cracked in a similar incident - after a few pesky calls, the gravel company's insurance company sent me a check for $550 (based on estimate to repair windshield and front bumper dings from their rocks). The best part is the fact that I have full glass coverage from MY insurance company and I touched-up the bumper myself! Check into full glass coverage - it will cover the full $1000+ replacement cost on your heated windshields, should they ever break. The premium is nominal for full glass through American Family Insurance. I've had my Disco windshield replaced with no hassles and no charge (non-heated type, I'm in Phx).

Ok....does anybody have the ability to "run" license plate numbers? What I thought was the name of the company, turned out to be a type of trailer! Let me know!

Report the incident to the cops - let them run it for you, Rock.

I did go to the cops, however, did not have enough time to file a report. The people at the front desk were not too eager in giving me any info. Anyway, Joshua, please let me know what you find, the plate number is Z88-039.
Thank you!
