Stupid ? but I've ripped the mud flaps off my 96 Disco and I want to finish the job. Are those rivets holding on the mud flaps? How can I remove them? I was thinking about a Dremal or a drill.
Anybody who has done this before please give me some advice. : )

Thanks!

yep.....just take a hacksaw or dremal to them. that is the only way to get them off.

i think this came up in a post before and somebody said that the parts that hold the mudflap on add some strength. if that's the case, you may not want to remove them.

really?? the only thing that the mupflat bolts through other than the aluminum panel in the back is a steel 1/16" plate to make the mud flap more rigid.

then tend to self remove anyway after a few log crossings or tail drags.

if that could really be the case then just saw to the very top of the mud flap where it meets the panel.

Uh, OH... You better get some Discoweb stickers to put on your Disco before you pull off the rest of that mud flap. It's bad luck not to have at least a piece of the flap still on. But, if you got to take it off the Discoweb sticker will even out the loss of luck from the missing flap. :)

he's not kidding with you this time. place several orders of stickers and be creative with them.....VERY. they even work for exhaust leaks, a broken rotoflex, leaking mirrors, etc.!!

ps: this all sounds familiar

"then tend to self remove anyway after a few log crossings or tail drags"

Yes I'm thinking a Geo Metro would do the same...

the entire Geo would self remove in that case. but at the very least maybe just the really cool airbrushed license on the front with a unicorn and rainbow.

I've got a 95 disco, ripped off mudflap at connection. Unbolted and removed remaining connecting piece of flap and replaced with new or bigger generic flap. Altho 95s probly different.
Hope this helps. Perry
