Anyone know an approximate cost of having a starter rebuilt (95 Disco)? Mine crapped out, I have a new one (mean green) on the way, but thought if not cost prohibitive I would have mine rebuilt. Good for a spare, maybe sell it. The OEM version was over $700 from Rovers North, the Mean Green aftermarket was $365, and boasts 100% more cranking power. They were out of the OEM besides.
Thanks.

I just had mine rebuilt by a shop in Fremont, CA. Complete drive, bushes, solenoid, and some other parts I'm forgetting for $275. More pricey than Napa, but less than a new stock starter.

50 - 100 dollars at most shops. Most of the time it's just the solenoid, which can be replaced cheaply. I think Ford used the same type of solenoid, should be a bosch unit.

You can buy them direct from Mean Green

Yeah, I found that out later, but I bought mine from Rovers North. The transaction was just simpler, I call someone and give them my CC number and they send everything I need, all in one order, (I ordered a belt and some other stuff)
If you are interested check this out.

They make alternators too.
