I have a disco series one and have just purchased 2 ARB's. I need some help with a location for the compressor. I also have a mantec snorkel, so the area in front of the airbox is a bit tight!

96 disco eh?
how about room if you relocate the washer bottle under the hood?

i did that in the 95 disco, but dont' know if 96's got any room.
97s sure don't.

otherwise, it'll have to be somewhere in the cabin, most likely under the passanger seat.

Just a note of caution, the area under the front seats will be the first thing underwater if you wade a little to deep.... Not that I know this from personal experience or anything :)

come on, no other thoughts? Can anyone see a way to move the washer fluid resevoir in a 4.0 equipped disco?

i have a safari snorkel on my 99 4.0 disco - and i have plenty of room forward of the air box. OR you could stick a 7" round air cleaner on the top of the snorkel (if the arb/safari unit fits) ditch the underhood air box completely and run a straight tube to the intake manifold? howz that?

or if you do the underseat route - make a wader box for the compressor with it's own mini breather for water crossings. other than that - the in the storage area where a jump seat would go. the only thing about having the compressor in the cabim with you is you get the hydraulic smell - unless you like that sort of thing!

Mount it in a small lidded water tight box(padded pelican waterproof case) in the rear cargo area bolted to the rear floor pan near the back door against the side. No more noise than under the seat(fewer vibs in the seat unless you like that).
Easy to get to for maintenance. All lines and wiring thru the bottom. I almost did that myself but found room under the hood(no snorkle)

I put mine under the drivers seat. Only complaint is the noise and the exhaust smell when it disengages. Arb says theres a fitting allowing you to vent it outside. It's real easy to get to. Just make a bracket to bolt to the seat frame and use the existing bracket under the seat for the second mounting holes.
