It smells like *ell around "Otto" these days - the hypoid leak from transfercase front output has grown worse & topping up every week.
Been checking the manuals, and as usual: Haynes doesn't cover, and LR Manual tells me how to dismantle the lot and do a complete t-case overhaul...
On the exploded views, it seems that you can remove the flange nut, withdraw the flange, and then get access to the oilseal. Anyone done this and can advice?
Thanks!
Frode

i took mine to my local mechanic and he fixed it for $300.

the tricky thing about the t-case is for all 94-97 discos is that land rover decided to make about 20 different seals for the same t-case and the only way to match them up is to take the seal to land rover and have them order one for you.

DISCO T BOX FLANGE SEALS

DISCO T BOX FLANGE KITS AVAILABLE AT DEALER, AND WILL SOLVE THOSE LOVELY SMELLS FROM UNDER YOUR VEHICLE.

OLDER DISCO 'S HAD BAD FLANGE SURFACING USE KIT IT WORKS!

ONE WORD OF CAUTION, WITH OLD FLANGE REMOVED MEASURE THE DISTANCE SEAL SITS INSIDE OF HOUSING , CRITICAL FOR A PROPER SEAL.
