Hey Guys..

I posted earlier about my track rod assy. situtation.. I was going to get it done at LR Grand Rapids but I am considering doing it myself, save some cash and have a little fun..

Questions though..

Rovers north has a 'Track Rod Assembly' (I think that is what I need) Part number 'RNS091'.. Here is the question, can I put it in my self? It seems easy enough.. But I want to know now if it is going to be horrible.. I would then take it in to get her aligned..

The part from Rovers North is $238.50 and LR wants about $450+ out the door.. This could save me some cash big time..

I would just like your input and honesty..

Thanks (a ton) Ben

You can put it in. Look and see what is bent and order that part. You may need a pipe wrench (to spin it off the rod ends) if it is corroded. Other than that it is pretty much self explanitary and you only need basic tools, also if you get it from RN they will talk you through it, they are very good about that. I have been on the phone with them for an hour on series stuff and they are always nice. For 235 bucks I would get Rovertyms instead. That way it will not bend again. Only tough thing is allignment, but if you count the nuber of turns taking it off it should be very close when putting it back on. And then you can take it to the shop. You can do it. Just start in the morning or some other time when you have a good stretch of time in case you get messed up and need to ask a question.

Good Luck

Ron

Are we talking about the Tie Rod?

Front steering link = Drag Link
Rear Steering link (Behind front axle) = Tie Rod

If so, why buy another stock tie rod, Ron's right, get the Rover Tym Drag link and Tie Rod for $235...
