Good problem to have, I suppose, but my 1995 RR Classic is running well and just reached 52,000. Probably never again will this truck be worth more than it is today. So I'm thinking since I have the trail ready Disco in the garage still under warranty and I'm using the RR for everyday driving, maybe I could trade or sell the Rangie and get a '97 D90 soft top for everyday driving.

Any of you Disco nuts also drive a D90 everyday? I had a D110 at one time but I have never had a D90. Thanks

my $0.02

daily driver - the rangie is the way to go, or a stock disco. i met john from the expedition exchange yesterday with his tricked out d90 wagon - and he said driving it was 'horrible' - coupled with 12 mpg and a 15 gallon fuel tank... as romantic and rugged looking as the d90 is - i wouldn't use it as a daily driver - except maybe a stock wagon - but why depreciate an asset?

if you got a trail rig - then get a nice ride. if you're itching for a change - get a one year old disco II drive it for 2 years and change out. or just keep the rangie.....

myself - i;m pondering the transition to a new disco II lease - but in the same price range i could get a used disco II or a 98 4.0 se.

best of luck!

Seems like you got it perfect. Reminds me of a quote I once heard: "Leave well enough alone."

2 Rovers you are happy with is better than another that could be a nightmare.

I hear you loud and clear. I put about 4 miles a day on my RR Classic (live close to work) and never fight traffic (none in my neck of the woods) so spending a lot of time in the car is not a big factor. I'll give it some though, but I sure would like a stock D90 soft top to tool around and haul my kids on errands with me.

what's wrong with driving the trail ready disco daily?
id' sell the rangie and take that money and put all into the disco you already have.
you say it's trail ready, but i am sure you can still upgrade things. :)

i was never a fan of multiple vehicle ownership.
i think it's still better to completely devote yourself to ONE single vehicle.

most of us have only ONE wife, for one reason. LOL

If it was me I would keep the two that you have. Like Tom said "Leave well enough alone.".. You already have two good trucks. Since you are only going to use the D90 on the street what is the point? Let some one else get the D90 and use it for it's purpose.. Getting it caked in mud on the hard trails. I get sad when I see clean, spotless D90s. That's just Rover abuse making it stay on the street all day. Should be a law against that. :) Or you could always do a custom RR clasic convertable conversion. Cut the top, make a roll cage, and have some one make a soft top. That would be the best of both worlds there :) :) :)

I thought that I'd drive my D90 for a daily driver. And thanks to someone rearending my Pickup I did for 3 months this last winter. If it would've happened in the Summer I'd have never made the 3 months. I've never grown to despise a vehicle more(Not even my 69 firebird blk/blk no a/c). My D90 is a softop, 5speed with only 13K miles on it. It's as close to new as I've seen. But they suck horribly for a daily driver. You may only have a 4 mile commute but anything over that is going to have you wishing you had the Rangie back. I'm not sure what you could get out of the Rangie but I've been looking and found several in the 15K range. That means you are coming up with another $16K + to find an 97 ST. And that is the cheapest you can find. I've made the decision to keep the Disco for a daily driver even with the offroad mods. If you're commute is 4 miles that won't be a problem. I'm selling my D90 and bought an 93 Porsche GTS and saved about $15K from what I sold the 90 for. Now I have the best of both worlds. I can either pour the extra cash into the Disco(I am). Or invest it and buy that nice place in Colorado (In 25 years).

Ross
97 Disco LSE
93 Porsche GTS

Both of these for the cost of one nice D90!

"most of us have only ONE wife" hmmm . . so if I were to have two Land Rovers would I be a polygamist, a cheater, or just plain lucky?

Just my 2 cents. I have owned a d90 for around 5 years. I bought it new and have used it for both daily driving as well as for a trail truck. As for the comfort, the rangie is more comfortable, no doubt about that. However, I wouldn't say the d90 is uncomfortable. I make several 2-3 hour trips in mine quite frequently. It doesn't bother me, I guess because I used to have a SIII. The d90 is an improvement over the series. If you want one, get it, but it won't be as comfortable as the rangie. If you are asking for other peoples opinions, then you might not be ready for one. It takes alittle bit of commitment to drive a d90 everyday. Also, as for mileage, I get around 15-17 mpg out of my 90.
One other tidbit of info. My 90 isn't the most comfortable, but I love it. It takes me everywhere I want to go and gets me their in relative comfort and has been VERY reliable. Good luck. J.S.

Red, there is a 2 door SWB G-Wagon for sale at HBL of Tysons down the street from me. I know it is in VA and not in GA but you might want to take a look.. I like the older G-wagons. However, I hate HBL the dealer that is selling it. They are a$$holes. But, it could be that they were that way to me due to my age. Who knows. Anyway their web address is www.hbloftysons.com and their phone number and address is
HBL of Tysons
8545 Leesburg Pike
Vienna VA
Toll Free 888-284-7414

Just thought you might like another option. I just saw it tonight and it looked green. It was dark though so I could be wrong. Around here though it will most likely be sold by tomorrow morning. It's not a D90 but, it is still a very nice ride.

Almost forgot.. They don't list it on their web site so you would need to call them if you wanted details about it.

Talked to them today.. 2000 G500 Green with 1674 miles. They want a mere $78,995.00 for it.. Ouch.

Good feedback. The Rangie and Disco are in roughly the same shape, and they fight for my attention. I generally use the RR for daily use because it will fit in the garage. So far as having just the one vehicle, what would I do when it breaks down or I break something? There is something to be said about devoting energy and $ into one rig, though. Hmmm...

By the way, I owned NAS D110 No. 200/400 for a year until I sold it in February 2001. It was my daily driver and never got off the highway. It was hot, slow and handled like a pig. My wife hated it because she couldn't drive it (5-speed). I sold it to a good friend who's wife hauls her kids to and from school and to the riding stables. I bought the RR Classic with the proceeds and invested the rest. For all their similarities, a 1997 D90 ST and the 1993 NAS D110 behave very differently.

Nope Eric, its been there for about a month(the G-Wagon) now...my wife and I passed by it when it was on the lot one Saturday afternoon on the way to Leesburg......And yep, they are some moroons over at HBL.....I was looking at a white 96DiscoI and they were not trying to tell me if all the warranty issue work had been done....but two dealerships back, at the Nissan dealer there was a white 97, and they wanted me to take it home(I live in Maryland) but I chose not to...I didn't want to leave the 94RR there over night..I've heard stories about dealerships taking your car and swearing that you were trading it in....

I purchased a D-90 from Twin Falls Idaho over the internet. My Brother-In-Law drove me to the dealer in his D-90, keep in mind at the time I was located in Central Oregon, 4-5 hours into the trip I had him turn around only because I realized that I did not have the "stones" to drive one of those as a daily driver. They are a whole lot of fun, but 4 hours of listening to the top flap around freezing my "stones" off I realized that a disco would be a much better decision. If I have the luxury in the future, I would definitely pick one up for weekends and trail runs.
