I just bought a '95 Disco; it is the fifth Rover I have owned and the first to offer any luxuries. When it is cold the steering wheel squeaks really bad; it is cold here 8 months a year ! I have tried to lubricate to no avail. Any suggestions ? Thanks.

I have a 95 Disco same problem. I'll let you know if I find a solution. Weather is finally warming up so it'll likely go away.

Same issue w/ my 97 SE7. Mine is a Texas vehicle, so the problem is now subsiding with the warmer temp. Annoying, yet I never did look further into it.

What fluid are you using? If you don't use the exact one the viscocity is often thicker and hence squeeks.

Squeaky like rubber hitting metal? If no, i don't have a clue. If yes, look for the rubber thing that holds around the steering (interior) component. Grease it up and it should whine no more.

ask your dealer for bulletin on steering squeeks at bottom of shaft.

My 95 Disco had the same problem last December, and I took it to my local LR dealer and they replaced something for like $50 and I never had that problem again( I trashed the receipt that had the exact part #, sorry)
