hey all - i don;t live out there - but i'm pretty sure bluegil does. there's some fun wheeling east of bloody basin road - go in about 15 miles? and you'll run into the arizona trail - that's cool too. also read and article about fire trail 42 or 38?? supposed to be real perdy and fun.

I live in Fountain Hills, but next weekend I am flying to NY to look at a car and will not be back till saturday night. I have a 99 Disco Series I my neighbor has a Series 2 that he ises to 4wheel also. Alo check out www.azlro.org lots of us belong to that group and you willfind most of your outings with them Unless you want to do the dealer trips.....

Yep - I'm in Scottsdale, with my eye on a house in Fountain Hills . Just spent Saturday Wheelin through The River (Verde River / Needle Rock area north of Fountain Hills). Headin to Strawberry for the upcoming long weekend... I'm always game for a quick getaway. Give me a shout anytime - email or post on this bboard, I'll pick it up. Just got an email from a Bill K. in Phx who just bought a Disco. We'll all have to arrange a trail run sometime soon.

Hadaz, how active is AZLRO? The site never seems to be updated, and I don't see many trips happening through that org. Is it more informal with a "let's just get together sometime" game plan? Just curious...

Any of you want to run out to Truckhaven with me for the Oct 13 weekend?

Steve, you're right about Bloody Basin - it's a brutally tough road with great scenery leading from I-17 into northeast Scottsdale/Carefree/Cave Creek area.

Bill they have site that I had given but it seems like a lot of the information that is going on is done @ azlro@stat.com That is where all the e-mails and such about runs go through. I do not know why they do it that way but that is the reason why you do not see a lot of stuff at the otehr site.

I have a white DII and live in Avondale AZ, how tough is the bloody basin Rd? My truck is stock so I haven't abused it too bad so far. Are there any online guides to AZ trails? It would be nice if this site had a sign-up board for off-road trips.

Bill sorry the one house that I would have no problem recommending looks like it is sold. Anyway the cross streets are Saguaro Blvd and Grande Blvd. I live in the East side, ie the slums according to the people on the west side.

I'm new to the area and was wondering what everyone thought of the dealership in scottsdale? Good, bad, etc. Just curious since my D2 is there getting a colonoscopy of the brake system (again...) Have your experiences been generally good or is there something i should know?

I picked up my '96 Disco there back in late '98. I haven't been too impressed with their service dept, but I believe that they are now under new management. I had some serious issues with them not too long after I picked up the Disco. Damn near came to blows and a lawsuit after one "let's do unneeded repairs, take his money, and leave the vehicle unsafe to drive" (replaced everything but the faulty steering stabilizer shock and my wife ended up losing control and going off the road). They seem like a typical dealership with a little extra snobbiness thrown in because they're in Scottsdale. They must be too used to dealing with Candi who brings her $70k Range Rover in with a burned-out vanity mirror lightbulb. Don't be shy about inspecting their work before you pay the bill. You can't assume that anybody (not just LR Scottsdale) is honest anymore.

P.S. Sales people are top notch. Hopefully service dept is getting up to speed, too.

Just got back in town. There does not seem to be any definitive plans yet for this weekend, or nobody wants to take the lead. Therefore... First, when can people go? Sat, Sun? I am free either day or for an overnight if anybody wants too. Second, where do we want to go? Hell, if no one has any ideas, I will have no problems winging it. Pinal mountains, sedona (hot), flagstaff (a little far but not hot), Carefree hwy west of I-17, and on and on...

I'm heading up to Strawberry in about 4 hours for the long weekend - a friend is stopping by on his way to the east coast and we'll probably hit some fun trails Saturday on the rocks and in the river around Payson (Strawberry is ~20 miles north of Payson; Payson is only ~90 miles north of Scottsdale up the new & improved Beeling Highway). Cold beer tastes really good by the river...
