I bought a OME MD kit (springs, shocks, steering damper, and caster correction kit) and it sat in my closet for almost a month before I got a chance to install (and the nerve to try).

I have ABSOLUTELY no auto-mechanic experience(although I do quite a bit of DIY in other areas), but when I bought my '95 Disco a few months ago, I promised myself I would do everything on it DIY. Guys, I am telling you I have never done more than change the oil in a car, and you could count the times I have done that on one hand. I bought the Haynes manual first thing, and I followed that and Kyle's guide step by step and it has gone great.

It took me about 4 hours to do the first one (DS front) - the bottom shock mount and the coil were a bitch. The PS only took about 1 1/2 hours, and the damper only bout 20 mins. That was it for today, and tomorrow the rear, which I hear is a bit easier.

All I have to say after day one is - I got the fever. Count me in a a life long member. If I can find a scanner, I will post pics (maybe I can figure out how to get my own gallery in your pic section).

Also, been doing a little light off-roading, and I got to find some buddies in my area so I can try some more serious stuff - only so much I want to do alone and without much gear.

I love this site and the whole LR/offroad thing. Hope this isnt too touchy-feely, but I am hooked.

-Marc

"Hope this isnt too touchy-feely" . .. well it has been real touch feely around hear lately with Karen's recent purchase and the rescue of Javier. I wish I knew how to make a crying face!

Marc, you did well. 5 1/2hrs with no prior experience. Turning bolts will make you feel closer to a rig, just keep in mind the Disco remains an inanimate object--just try convincing them of that little fact :)

Uh-oh, sorry Moe.......didn't mean to drive you to tears. I confess, DiscoWeb has replaced ebay for me, but maybe I should surf over there or get back on topic here.

Howza about them CDLs?

Karen, sobering up ;)

"Howza about them CDLs?" Don't worry Karen, shortly you will develop CDL envy. Add that to the list.

marc, getting a photo gallery in discoweb is real easy. jsut send me a bunch of pics (jpeg format about 640x480), info on your disco, year, mods, blah blah, where yo are located, and the gallery will be up.

Thanks, Ho.

I got the rears put on this morning, no problem. Went straight out and got dirty. I love the extra lift and it rides waaaay better (it was jarring my spine when I hit a pothole or bump).

Wow Marc, I'm impressed! Congrats on such a smooth first mod, it's a significant bunch of work. Hope it provides you a lot of possibilities for fun in the future.

Karen :)
