Ok folks, I am stuck on step one of changing my t-case oil. I have a 1/2 breaker bar and the fill plug is really tight. I am afraid to go postal on the plug in fear of breaking something. Just how tight are these things? I am putting serious pressure on the bar to no avail. Any suggestions? should I warm up the truck? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had to tap the end of my 1/2" rachet with a soft blow hammer to get mine to move.

Ok I tried using a rubber mallet, a hammer everything but a hand held sledge. Additionally, two of us were pulling on the breaker bar until it was almost breaking. It looks as if it was never taken out before. Should I just take it in and have someone else break it loose? Hell, if they break something it is better then me breaking it.

Any advice is appreciated

Mine wasn't hard to turn, just difficult to get to with my long breaker bar. anyone have any suggestions on easier ways to get to it. NO rush, just changed mine a few months ago.

I encounter the same problem removing the xfer case plug from my RRC. After several frustrating hours of trying to remove the plug using conventional methods, I used my torch to heat the case around the plug, I let it cool and then heated it again. I used a 1/2" drive breaker bar and put the handle of my floor jack over the end of the beaker bar to gain more leverage. It broke free. Good luck.

Jorge,
I had the same problem. I did get it finally, but next time I'm going to use a 1/2 inch ratchet with a short (maybe an inch long) extension. I think that will work much better in the little space you have to work in.
Let me know if you try it.
Daniel
