I am purchasing some steel rims and I would like to avoid shipping charges on 5 rims at 25lbs a piece for rims from Gulf Coast Rovers. Their rims are 15x7 with a 4.25" backspacing. I found a local shop that could get me 15x7" with a 6.5x5" lug pattern and a 4.5" backspacing which would put the wheel inwards 1/4" from the GCR rims, or 15x7" with a 6.5x5" lug pattern and a 3.75" backspacing which would put the rims outwards 1/2" from the GCR rims. I would just like some recommendations on which rims would be best, if the rims from the local shop would cause rubbing, put excess strain on wheel bearings, or anything else. I have 32x9.5 Super Swampers to mount on them.

Thanks,
Matt

the 3.75" might be to far out, it may catch on the wheel wells.
i think stock is something like 5.25", so personally, i'd go with the 4.5" to save me anymore hacking than i have too.

what shop and what brand of rim are they selling you?

My 245/75/R16s on American Racing Steel rims (4.25" backspacing) stick out about 1 inch from the fender wells. This makes for one hell of a mud storm when kickin it through the deep mud. This also meant quite a bit of more trimming on the rear fenders.

Thanks,
Mike B.

The shop is called Mudder Truckers outside of Cincinnati...I know how that must sound, but they will match any price and I have been very happy when dealing with the owner. They are American Racing rims.

Have you even asked them what the shipping costs would be? They have great service and I had my rims in 3 days from Texas to Arizona via UPS. Total of 5 rims and 23 lug nuts with shipping was $408.26 If theyhave your e-mail address they can send you the UPS tracking info and you can track your order.

Tirerack.com sent me 5 rims with lug nuts and wrench, for $285 including everything. They fit the D2, but I am not sure which rover you have. They prob have for D1 also. 2 day delivery too.

I put on 32x10.5 BFG MT KMs on stock D2 and its fine.

Dean
