I have a 95 Disco that has just recently started flucuating the intensity of the lights. It happens to the dash lights, dome lights, and headlights. This all occurs when there is some sort of acceleration or just pressure applied to the gas pedal. It had an alternator put into it about a year and half ago. Has anyone else had this happen or possibly know a cause? Just wondering so I might be able to pinpoint the cause quickly.
Thanks,
Chad

Could be a bad battery. Does the intensity of the lights brighen up when you accelerate? When you start it, does it crank slow? I'm not sure about the LR, but with some older cars, the blinkers will go faster when your driving compared to when its at a stand still when the battery starts to die.

Intensity continues fluctuating when I accelerate. It does get brighter, but does not remain a constant. No slow cranks...fires right away. Also blinkers seem to remain at a correct rate either moving or stopped. I was thinking is was not the battery because it was firing up and the lights all seemed to work properly otherwise.

It is your alternator ,it has a bad diode. I have seen them continue to function for quite a while like this although at reduced capacity. Hope this helps
