I'm looking to purchase tires and the Futura Enforcers MT were recommended. They are economically priced compared to the BFG MT or the Good year MTR. I like there low price but was wondering how they compared to the popular MT tires? How do they drive on the street? Are they excessively noisy, bad in the rain? snow etc? I would like something that I can still drive around town or take a long trip on. Have you found these tires able to do this? The noise issue is my biggest concern. I have LR Adventure rack which can be noisy and I wondering how they compare to this? I have herd different many opinions on MT tires and I have no experience with them any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

thanks to the rack you have, the noise from the MT won't be much of an isse.
actually, even without the roof rack, it shouldn't be much of an issue.
MTs are MTs. look at the tread pattern and they are all very similar. it's how much faith you have in the contruction of the tires... and as long as it's not firestone/bridgestone, i'd say go for it.

Love the tire...less noisy than the BFG MT...but still, indeed, a noisy set of shoes. I have the roof rack with lights, and guard bar, and all that other garbage up there...
you'll be turning up the radio...no doubt!!

What I am wondering, and I have the Futuras, is are the new SuperSwamper Truxxus going to be the $100 tire of choice that a lot of us are going to switch to? 4WheelWholesale, I think that is who I called, could ship them to the midwest for ~$125 each.
The main contention I forsee is tire wear/extended daily use. Many of the Swampers you see on rigs are not used for daily driving and when I have seen them used for daily driving they start to fall apart, litteraly throughing tread while at highspeeds. Is this one of the features of this new model, they will withstand daily use?
I realize this probably belongs on Danno's thread, that was started earlier, but I hate stepping into other people's mud slinging.

in my personal belief, superswamper goes in the same category as the firestone.
perviously, SSRs shreaded and been recalled.
if you go visit your local 4 wheel parts wholesalers, you'll see a stack of super swampers sitting there all returned for some defect.
maybe the trux thing is better and more modern?
let's hope so.

Yes, every time I go to 4WP, I see stacks of Super Swampers and Pro Comps returned for some defect. Some have patent defects like delaminations and others just look used (but were obviously defective as they were returned and taken back by 4WP). Avoid both of these tire brands like the plague.

The Futuras have served me well. The 235s have an issue with lug shedding on sharp ledges but the 265 doesnt ...

David,
Check with Greg Davis (see his DII in PhotoGallery). I believe he has the Futura MTs and drives on them daily. He told me these are actually Cooper SSTs, which is ceratinly a better built tire for daily driving than any of the Super Swampers, Pro Comps, etc.

Yes, I have 265-70-16's and drive on them at least 70 miles per day. Yes, they are noisey, but no worse than others. Handling is fine. I did have mine siped for wet weather, but just as a precaustion. Never had any problems with them slipping until I had to drive with just front wheel drive. Great tire for the price.

Greg,
Where did you have those siped?

Discount Tires on S. Blvd, across from the new Target (where I-485 & 521 intersect). $10 per tire. Ask for Joey. He's the manager and was a fourwheeler out in CA. He actually knows his stuff. Tell him the guy w/ the silver Rover sent you.

How bout the Interco's ...apparently a good MT tire (cool sidewall tread too) and I was told that they're pretty quiet.
I think they are around $116 a tire?
Mongo...
Ladder design # 1 is OK.
Full redesign (design #2) is in the works

I have the tsl radial swampers and they are definetly not for sissies. If you do alot of wheeling they rock. If you have to go 80 on the freeway they are not the tire for you. They are noisy on road and sticky off road. Does it count if they are on my jeep and my disco wears pirellis?

Anyone had experience with Remington Wide Brutes? I used to run them consistently without failure. Nice "square" shape too like the BFG MT at about $125 a piece.
I'm starting to worry about the Interco stuff - damn, I thought the Trxxus was going to be my next set!
