Coming home on an expressway with heavy traffic, I had to stop very quickly, jamming on my brakes, and pumping them. I didn't hit anything, thankfully. However, at the toll gate, I smelled a bad brake odor, but figured it came from another car in the area. Then, a guy went by and said he saw smoke from my right rear brake. It was difficult to just stop anywhere, so I decided to make it home, using the brake as sparingly as possible. I had no problems coming home - no smoke nor smell. When I got home, I jacked up the rear wheels, and everything seemed to be OK: plenty of pad, screws tight. The, I read in the book about a brake regulator that is supposed to react to heavy braking. Is what happened to me an OK thing, like that's the way the regulator is supposed to work? Or, is the regulator bad? thanks for any info.
