I just bought a 95 Disco 1 about 3 weeks ago. It's got 70K miles on it. I have had it in the shop every week since fixing leaks. Luckily I bought it from a Land Rover dealer and they gave me a 12 month warranty. My question is should I trust it to travel about 1,500 miles this Labor Day weekend? What are some items I should check before leaving?

I bought my 96 off of e-bay at flew to Texas to pick it up. I checked the oil, coolant and drove home. I had a small shudder at speeds above 90. The shudder turned out being a VSS. The 1900 mile trip home was a great way of getting to know my new ride.

Chad,

It's hard to say for sure without knowing exactly what leaks and how badly but.... If you wanted to be 100% sure, ask the dealer and see what they have to say about it.

I took my Disco from Colorado to Belize and back (6,000+ miles) with a front main seal that was leaking like a sieve. No real problems, I just had to check the fluid a bit more often and top it off every other tank of gas or so.

Like the saying goes: "If your Rover doesn't leak, it's prob. out of fluid."

Usual disclaimer apply,

Nathan Hindman

Thanks guys. I know Disco's leak, I was just hoping to go a few months between leaks.

Nathan makes a good point. Get he deal to crawl all over it and repair those leaks. You bought the warranty that covers this type of stuff. Make them make good on the deal.

Hey! Made it back with no problems. One question though. When you are driving your Disco does it seem like you are going slower than the speedometer says?
