Geez Steve, great secret-keeper you are, LOL! Right Ron, and on ebay you get an increase in your feedback rating, too! HAHAHA, what color is your ebay star? Don't get me started looking on ebay for yet another item of interest. I'm only sorry I missed a REALLY nice 2001 DII SE with 5000 miles for under $30K about a month ago. It was local enough to drive to easily, but I hadn't settled the ACE/non-ACE thing in my brain, and it was a non-ACE vehicle. I didn't love the color, but for $$$ savings, I'd have grown to love it....

I think it means, in sumerian under-talk, 'my diff is shafted' ?
By Leslie N. Bright (Leslie) on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 02:58 am: Edit |
Well.....
Back in high school we did a play called "Gilgamesh and Enkidu", which was based on the infamous Mesopotamian pair from the Biblical city of Ur who wrestled w/ each other for fun all the time, and if I remember correctly, had something to do w/ the Cedars of Lebanon. Anyway, the play had a god-dude in it named Utu who represented the Sun.... kinda like the latter-day Apollo being a son of a bigger god, but was he himself responsible for the sun "rising and setting", where he would ride to the underworld each night, and then back the next day. Now I'm gonna have to go diggin' through my old trunks of junk and see if I can dig out the script....
But anyway, taking a stab at it, given that Karma is usually aligned with "what goes around comes around", and then playing off the Utu reference as a Sun god, I would say that:
"Karma Utu" is almost saying that "the sun will set, and the sun will rise".
-L

I still think his diff is shafted
By Ron on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 07:57 am: Edit |
1. Karma is for you too Karma U Tu
or you believe everything is homeothermic.
Utu = temperature
Some reference to the greenhouse effect being (or not being) BS?

You are not a member of the transportation union are you?
By Jose A Cabrera (Jcabrera) on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 09:17 am: Edit |
Steve, I will give it try:
KARMAUTU
KARMA = The Pali term Karma literally means action or doing. Any kind of intentional action whether mental, verbal, or physical, is regarded as Karma.
UTU = Natural
Did I win? How close am I?
Jose
By Steve (Steve2) on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 09:47 am: Edit |
oooh - jose - you are sooooo close. but not there
steve
By Leslie N. Bright (Leslie) on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 09:50 am: Edit |
Bummer, I thought I was on the right track.
Hmmm...... gotta go diggin' for those ol' books...
-L
By Leslie N. Bright (Leslie) on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 09:53 am: Edit |
Wouldn't be so crass as to be, playing off of Jose's Karma definition, " 'Do' you, too" ?? I'd have thought not....
-L
By Ron on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 09:54 am: Edit |
So you are not in a mass transit union.

By Chris DeJesus (Mudy_Ovl) on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 09:58 am: Edit |
Steve, working from the research and insight of others, (basically I'm combining ideas). I think KARMAUTU is your version of "Just Do It." Close? Anyhow, I am really impressed with Leslie's and Jose's insight into other languages.
CD
P.S. By the way, thanks again for putting together the 1st receiver/shackle offer, Mucho Beefy! Also, Torasport has a really nice website.

Ron
Do it naturally
By Jose A Cabrera (Jcabrera) on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 10:06 am: Edit |
Steve, I will give it try one more time:
KARMAUTU
These are two of five orders or processes which operate in the physical and mental realms
KARMA = The Pali term Karma literally means action or doing. Any kind of intentional action whether mental, verbal, or physical, is regarded as Karma.
UTU = Physical (inorganic) order, e.g., seasonal phenomena of winds and rains.
How close am I now?
By Leslie N. Bright (Leslie) on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 10:25 am: Edit |
Steve said that it had to do w/ Sumerian mythology.... that's what triggered my Mesopotamian references.
Utu is "the Sun God", and also of Justice. He was the son of Nanna, also known as the moon god Sin, and Ningal his wife. Utu, Nanna, and several others mad eup the "Seven who Decreed the Fates".
Hmmm.... "I could look for the name Zuul in the usual literature. Spates Catalog. Tobin's Spirit Guide." Maybe then I'd turn over the right stone...

By Ron on Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - 10:47 am: Edit |

I have only been reading the posts. And since I have little grasp of the English culture, let alone ancient Summerian, I will refrain from guessing!!! But Ron..once one knows the reason...it becomes Truism, instead of malarky!! HAHA
But anybody who can pull out a Ghostbuster quote and use it context is worth noting....not loudly mind you.

I'll add my guess as to the true meaning of Steve's secret persona. Does it mean, "Do it in the dirt"?
"Mud"? "Road", you crazy Beatle????
Do it lifted? With swampers in rompers? With spacers? With HD springs and things? With a winch? With a Grinch? Out Kyle's window while doing the limbo? On the roof rack on your back? In a cheap J**P with a cheap creep? (NAH!) Hey Kim, pass the Margaritas! LOL!

Thanks again and sorry for the delay (mail has been pretty slow these days).
