Fellow Disco Owners,

Hi, I just purchased a 1998 Land Rover Discovery LSE from Bear Valley Land Rovers. Both of the Exterior Driving Mirrors (Rear view mirrors)shake very bad when driving down the interstate. I took it to my LR Dealer. They said I would have to replace both mirrors. Do you have any suggestions? It is still covered under LR warranty but the LR Dealer in Asheville, NC said I would have to pay to get them fixed!

Bear Valley Rovers should reimburse you, I had to do the same thing with my fuel pump. Call BVR and see what they say !

how funny -

i just took my 99 sd7 in today for the same thing. they are fine to about 70 mph. anything over 80 and you cannot see what is behind you. got two new ones on, and now i can see! also the clarity of the reflection is improved and theat wierd blue is gone. apparently the little feet inside of the motor that position the glass can get tolerance increases due the shape of the car and turbulence.... so had them throw two new ones under warranty- they are nice and shiny!

best of luck!
steve

Blue Gill can do that. He can do that, because he's riding with the chocolate monk!

Back to the subject! Take it back to NorthPoint or Buckhead and make them fix it! Why did they not in the first place?

I am going to talk to the Service Manager at LR Asheville about this issue. I am going to print out the postings and show the service manager that LR fixed Steve's Disco mirrors.
Thanks for the postings.

I'm pretty sure it was a Mitsubishi for Jackie Chan. Aren't there some scenes where he's inside and it's all tricked out with a bunch of computers and switches in the back?

Jackie Chan has some sort of "thing" with Mitsubishi's, he drove Montero/Pajero/Shogun/Whatevers in many of his movies including Meals on Wheels and Police Story. He drove them very fast I seem to recall.

Those mirrors will need to be replaced btw, there is no way to reseat the glass to avoid vibration. Your dealer should replace - just insist on it and they'll do right by you.

Cheers,

Erik

MIRRORS

DISCO AND RR MIRRORS USE STABILIZERS ON THE BACK OF MIRROR TO KEEP IT FROM SHAKEING.

CHECK TO MAKE SURE THESE AREFIT INTO PROPER HOLES AND NOT AJAR.

IF YOU DONOT WANT TO FOOL WITH THE MIRROR GO TO LOCAL DEALER A SIMPLE FIX!
