Speaking of Jeeps, has anybody seen that Isuzu commercial where the Jeep Cherokee has the big rock hanging from the pole that's strapped to the top? And when the idiot stops, the rock bashes in the front end? Damn thats funny.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Jon E. Yermo (Jon) on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 - 07:12 pm: Edit

I think it's the Axiom commercial. Axiom means "underpowered" in Japanese, btw.

LOL, Isuzu.

LOL, Jeep.

It looks like the drippy wrangler ground effects machine had a gooey, icky malfunction when that POS Wrangler was coming off the line.

LOL, Jeep - There's Only One.

God Save Land Rover!

if he just kept the wing off - it could just be an embarrasing g/friend's car. but with the wing he crosses the line into a serious 'rico suave' of the off roadworld. i'd think that rig would be too garish to be even be seen in 'pricilla queen of the desert II' (if they ever make one!)

sad part of it is that i could have matching dash kit made for it.....

Does Jeep actually sanction that abberation? ...
Once again, GOOD GAAWWD ALMIGHTY!! Oh, help! .. Please why, oh why?? ... You know, the same company now owns both Jeep AND Land Rover ...

I wonder if they make a wing like that for Discos? You could fit about 14 pairs of Hellas on that thing.

Kim,
Actually its even worse than that. Land Rover is now owned by the company that made the Pinto and the Exploder. I mean Explorer.

I don't know how rover fans feel about Ford running LR, but Jaguar seems to be better off w/ Ford. But then, some purists consider the new X-type a blaspheme and others don't like the idea of s-type w/ made-in-use engines. When rumor came out that there're possible sabatage at one of the Ford engine plant (I think it was the Romeo plant), owerns were shocked to learn their new cat is not full blooded British..., it's like finding out your son is gay I suppose. :)

Damn that Jeep's funny.

Bet his mom had to tie a pork chop around his neck just so the dog would play with him!

It's not actually a spoiler though, I think it's a handle to pull it out when he gets stuck!

On the LR/Ford front. I heard that Ford were going to make LR a stand-alone company, without any ties to Ford at all.
LR left to do what they do best.

I don't know much of the detail, but that's what I read too. Ford, as far as I know, left Jaguar pretty much alone at the beginning. An article I read said Jaguar actually learned a lot about quality control from Ford people. Now look at Jaguar today. Not long ago no one think of Jaguar as a reliable car, but after Ford got involved, Jaguar now is one of the top car makers in J.D. Power initial quality study. http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2001-05-17-jdpower.htm To me, that says a lot! Ironically, Ford now is stuggle w/ quality control themselves (more likely due to mismanagemnt).

We all know Ford now has more immediate things to worry about than LR. Perhaps in 15 or so years before we see anything different? When the deal was sealed, I read some auto industry "experts" who said LR is a company that no one wants even if they give it away for free... (ouch) How nice of Ford to adopt the company no one wants :) Cross our finger and hope for the best I suppose. I still want to buy a Land Rover!!

THAT GUY IS IN DOWNTOWN CHICAGO!!!
I'm 99.9% positive. I see that thing at least once a week. The only way I could be wronk is if two poeple did the same "mods", and I don't think there are two people that twisted in the whole world.
It's actually hilarious that it should find it's way here, because I make fun of that thing every time I see it and my girlfriend is getting tired of hearing it.

O.K. If I see this thing again, I'm going to leave detailed instructions as to how he can find this board. Then we can attempt to show him the error of his ways. I mean even a J##p doesn't deserve that kind of treatment.

I don't want him to know who I am, though.
He might resent me for trying to help and do something bad to my truck like key it or break the windows or even worse...put one of those fin things on it.

For some reason, I keep thinking of vanilla ice, (Rollin' in my 4.0...) tacky, tasteless, and just plain doesn't make any sense.

I build race motors, the saying goes, "if it doesn’t perform, chrome it so it looks like it does"

The Cheep community should be proud of such an addition to there community

NEWS BREAK
We have a confirmed siting:
The Unidentified Finned J##P was sighted at approximately 0754 this morning. The UFJ was sighted heading south bound on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago near the Irving Park Rd exit. I followed as close as traffic would permit while attempting to make some type of contact with the driver. All attempts at communication were unsuccessful. I abandoned my attempt to establish whether there was an intelligent life form in the craft just south of the Chicago Ave exit. The craft continued southbound on LSD (the highway, not the drug, but then again maybe that too) for an undetermined period of time.

More information will be posted as it becomes available...

Ali,
He's downtown, but that picture must have been in the burbs.
I see him once a week or so and always on my way to work, like I did this morning. I have been making fun of him since before I started lusting for a Disco, which was about 7 months ago. I'm seriously going to make a sign for next time I see him.
I like "Do you come in peace?"

At least the Disco was done up for advertising reasons. (still doesn't justify it) That other monstrosity was done for no other reason than the owner thinks it looks good.
Well, it's either that or he's devised some fantastic engine modification and needs the increased downforce to keep the rubber on the road at extremely high speeds.

Economics of the illegal drug trade are incredible, from production to the astronomic markups on the street (I've studied neutral economic analyses of the drug industry with perverse interest). Makes bill gates look like he's selling lemonade on the corner. One problem, though...it's all illegal. Nowadays it's caffeine, sugar, alcohol, and aspirin for me :) Oh well, back to work...Uncle Sam will come down on me if I don't get my paycheck to him on time.

p.s. I saw this guy again this morning. It seems that we have similar schedules. Every time I'm running late for work, I see him on his way to the mother ship.
