Do any of you have these on your Discos? I can probably get one cheap, and was wondering. My daughter (5 yrs old) could use it, but doesn't "need" it.
I'm actually thinking it might protect the tailpipe in light offroading...

I've got on on my 98. It works best as a skip plate and a tree feeler for backing up. It tends to drag quite a bit.

I have one and my wife won't let me sell it. She thinks it looks cool. I tore it up pretty good off-roading.
After off-roading a bit, it tends to fill up with mud. Then the spring is too soft to hold it up and the 5 lbs of mud it's packing, so it starts going thud, thud over every big bump. Kind of anoying!
Go with a ladder on your door. It looks much cooler and is cheaper ($109.00 or so from Nathan Crabtree). My son loves the ladder!
Thanks,
Mike B.

I don't know that I want my daughter on the roof, and it is the step that is available, not a ladder.
Thanks for the input, though. hehehe

My son doesn't get up on the roof. He climbs about half way up the ladder and looks around. It makes him feel really big and he gets a kick out of it. I don't think that he will crawl up on top. He's 4 years old.
Rear step is cool. You really need the rear ladder or the rear seats (SE7) for it to be of any real use. Having said that, I'd recommend that you go ahead and get it. There is a huge resale market on the Discoweb For Sale section. So if you don't like it you can always sell it pretty easily.
Thanks,

That's funny it must be something about being a kid. My friend has 3 boys ages 5-10yrs. and they love climbing up on my rack and they think thier big sh*t up there.LOL

I have the rear seats, and the kids (5 and 11) always want to ride back there, even if it is only them and me in the truck.
I don't think my daughter would get on the roof either, that was a tongue in cheek comment. (damn typing...tough to get humor across properly...)

Sorry, your sense of humor would be lost on me. I have no sense of humor.
Thanks,
Mike B.
