Sounds crazy but I recently acquired a 6 month old Warn 9500i for free. I know some of you don't like Warn but for zero dollars I want to use it! Is there just a front bumper mount for this winch on the D2? I like RT slimline bumper but also need to lift my disco first. Oh yeah it is missing the remote do I just order this from Warn? thanks for your input

Also is the Warn accessory kit a good deal? Or should I piece together my own, shackles, snatch block, tree saver, etc.

how about the genuine land rover winch basket? it just fits without any major mods... it's a pretty big commitment to go all out on an entire new bumper for a free winch which sounds temporary. unless you'r sure you'r keeping the winch. some heavy duty dumpers are made specifically to fit certain winches only so if you decide to get a different winch you might not have that option.

hanchung,

From my conversations with RN and RTE, the warn, superwinch, and ramsey all have the same bolt pattern. At least on the "normal" winches. The Warn 8274, Superwinch Husky, and Ramsey RE series are different beasts altogether.

You can order a new remote from any NAPA store.

Herky, is it the HS9500i?
If so, it will not fit in the LR OEM winch tray. The high speed motor is too big, and if you make some cuts in order to fit the bigger motor, the bolt pattern will be off, as well will be the exit point for the cable on teh winch tray, it will be off set.
Trust me, I tried to fit this winch, but ended up with the XD9000

No I am going to keep this winch, Just did not know if I had a cheaper alternative to spending a grand on a bumper. I still have factory bumper untrimmed, and still sitting at stock height. Thanks for the info on the remote Alex. Yeah Josh it is the 9500i, so it wont fit in the OEM tray?

oops didn't know the hs9500i didn't fit the oem winch basket... apologyze for that.
mr. ford that's exactly what i meant... if you decide to go all out on a different class winch like the husky's or the RE's one will have problems fitting upgraded winch to their 1000 buck investment.

If you are going to want to mount this winch , wiych is a good idea, I woudl go ARB...pretty cheap, and i cant mount my hella's on my bar from LR like you can on an ARB or comprable.

I havent dont research on aftermarket bumpers ect ect, but alot of my buddy's have ARB bars, and have no complaints.

basically, the OEM tray looks good, keeps that stock brush bar look, but of you want lite's mounted, you gota fabricate something, like PK did or maybe kyle did.

Perrone, there is more to it than bolt patterns. For example, the Warn M12000 and Ramsey RE12K both uses the same bolt pattern. However, the Warn will bolt straight into a (non-airbag) ARB bumper, while the Ramsey wont. Why? Because of the dimensions of the actual winch. When matching up winches and bumpers you need to look at the dimension of the entire winch. Blueprints with dimensions are posted on the manufacturers web sites.

Herky,
Save some $$$ and get a Trek Outfittes or a RTE bumper. The ARB bumper recommended for a DII has some issues. If you go for one, I have some info you...email me off line...
