The ABS on my 96 Disco engages when turning right or left at corners. I explain: if you come out of a drive way and as you turn you need to stop, the ABS engage and you feel the vibration. Any suggestion?

Jose,
Have you checked your ABS sensors? I just picked this up from a recent post. It sounded the same as your problem. I actually had the ABS coming on for no reason with no pattern. I just wiggled the sensors a little while changing the shocks and it SEEMS to be resolved.
Funny too, because it didn't feel as if they seated any better when I pushed on them.

I did that once before. I'll wiggle them one more time. Thanks!

Jose,
I had the same situation on my '95 Disco. The ABS kicked in when making sharp turns. If the wiggling solves your problem, great! If not, the problem is in the wiring leading to the sensor at the wheel. Sometimes, the wire gets abraided (sp?) and causes the ABS to malfunction. The dealer replaced the harness and solved the problem. Unfortunately, it was out of warranty and cost over $200.00 for the repair.
LOL, CD

This problem is p….. me o... Some one posted that they have removed the fuse for the ABS. Can someone tell me the pros & cons when doing this (please, no ABS is obvious a con)

Jose, mine did the same thing and I just pulled the fuse a couple of weeks ago. I was tired of trying to fix the damn thing. This thing has been a pain since I bought it. I have replaced 2 sensors already and the dealer actually rerouted the wires once(they told me they were touching my non-OEM plug wires). finally I just pulled the fuse.

As for pro's and cons...well, I am happy my abs isn't going psycho on me anymore, no more having to really stomp on the brake hard when it kicks in and I'm not stoping as fast as I usually would. Cons...it was nice to have sometimes, and I noticed its absence when backing down a dirt hill with the brakes on, since my front locked up (I know, I know, the diff wasn't locked, and if it was this wouldn't happen)other than that..... Seems fine to me.

Hope this rant has helped.

Soctt, I am sold to try it. Can you tell me where and which one to pull out?

Just a warning here - if you pull the fuse on 96 and newer the check engine light will go on. Apparently you can pull the harness at the controller or some relay, and this will work ok, but I haven't tried it.

Thanks Alex, I remember reading that somwhere on this board. Mine is a 95

Jose
The fuse on my 95 is in the engine compartment. If you look in your owners manual it is the ABS Pump fuse. Thats the one I pulled. Seems to work ok so far. I would search and find out what you have to do on other years. Sorry, couldn't help you much on that.

most of the abs erratic operation complaints I have dealt with that haven't flagged a light have been swivel ball contamination that rusts up the reluctor ring on the c.v. joint. Hope this helps

ABS MALFUNCTION CAN BE CAUSED BY LOTS OF THINGS!

INTERMIT OPEN CIRCUIT!

LOOSE OR BAD WHEEL BEARINGS

WORN OUT STUB AXLE BEARINGS!

IMPROPER END PLAY ON C/V JOINT!

EXCESS AIR GAP SENSOR TO RELUCTOR!

BAD C/V!

ALL OF THESE CAN BE CHECKED AT LOCAL DEALER, BEST LEFT TO TECHNICAN SINCE IT IS SAFETY RELATED!

MOST DEALERS WILL DO DIAG AT MINIMAL COST!

THEN YOU CAN DECIDE WHEATHER OR NOT TO REPAIR IT! ROVERFUN(ROVERFUN 4 ALL @AOL.COM)
