It's become worse and worse.
Just turning on the stock radio, without the volume up or anything...I've gove that interference thing (whistle) going (on all: AM, FM, Cd, & WB)...probably from the distributor or other electric garbage??
Is this an antenna thing?
I installed a metal shroud that was grounded around my distributor many years ago on my VW rabbit. That worked I think?!
Anyone have a fix...???

Slider,
On my 98, it's more of a buzz and happens promarily in the right front speaker. LR ran the wire to this speaker pretty close to a wire forthe alternator, so I've heard. Is it dependent on RPM? Interference of this type is often caused by plug wires going south, and mine did get much better when I changed plug wires.

i slapped a new Eclipse CD head unit in and noticed an increase in the radio frequency interference. (over stock) i know of others that have the same issue. i think that can be helped depending on where you ground your stereo and whether you put a ground 'loop' in it. most stereo shops can take care of this with various suppressors. i have 6 month old Magencor wires, so that never seemed to help. and i have an alt that is about 8 months old.
nothing to do with the antenna either. i have none. got ripped off months ago when it was in the stuck up position. just gonna get a basic flex one now. wish i had a '97 with the antenna built in.
i am just dealing with it until i freak out and go postal one day. then i will take it in and get it fixed.
my brother in law has his phd in acoustical engineering so i think he can take care of it too.

I've experienced this before also. It's probably interference from the alternator. However one thing you might check is the battery connections. If one or both of the battery terminal clamps are a little loose it will cause this type of interference.

Slider,
Had the same problem on my 95. "Luckly" my alternator went out, I had it replaced and now there are no more problems.
