Low weight limits are partly as a result of not having a full-length gutter rail on the factory rack. (C of G is another, but that's a driving matter) We've safely had six times more than the 110lbs limit on our rack on our Jeep Cherokee and that vehicle is nowhere near as strong as Land Rovers.
