I have gotten some valuable information from this board on both DI and DIIs. I have decided to buy a used DII instead of a new one because it seems most *problems* occur early in the life of a DII. I will be primarly be looking for a '99 or '00 is either year better than the other? and what should I expect to pay?

i'd say the newer the better - especially with a new model - but there are people here on the board with 99 seriesII that are just fine. most of the problems were trim fit and the like, very simular to what ml320 owners experienced with the new model in 98. bugs just get worke dout over time. this is why i elected to get the last of the first model, vs. the first of the new as they were within $1000 of each other.

price depends on miles and specification- a good person to ask if you can track him down is 'gil' - he's got the true pulse and what's happening at the auctions. other places to look are ebay and autotrader.com

I bought my 2000 SD in march, it had 7000 miles on it for 26000. I was looking at a 98 for the same price but it was an se-7 with more miles. Keep looking till you find "yours"

Where are you located? I purchased a 2000 SD in April with 6500 miles on it for 27000.00, the important thing here is that I was upside down on my truck 8500.00 and the dealer ate the difference, predominantly due to the fact that it would be difficult to sell the DII in central oregon, seeing how there is no LR service within 200 miles.
